MTV Announces Movie Award Nominees

MTV has announced nominees for the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, with Twilight and Slumdog Millionaire at the front of the pack.

Twilight earned the most nominations with seven, including Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), Best Kiss, and Breakthrough Performance Male (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner).

Slumdog Millionaire wasn’t far behind with six nods, including Best Movie, Breakthrough Performance Male (Dev Patel) and Breakthrough Performance Female (Freida Pinto).

We’re kind of most excited about MTV’s newest category, Best WTF Moment, for which nominees include Amy Poehler‘s sink piss in Baby Mama, Ayush Mahesh Khedekar toilet water frolick in Slumdog Millionaire, Angelina Jolie‘s curved bullet in Wanted, Jason Segel‘s nude breakup with Kristen Bell in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Ben Stiller tasting the head in Tropic Thunder.

Freida Pinto’s Ex-Fiance Speaks Out Against Slumdog, Dev Patel

Freida Pinto ex-fiance, Bangladore businessman Rohan Antao, is claiming that Pinto is “infatuated” with her co-star Dev Patel, and that Best Picture Winner Slumdog Millionaire “wrecked our love.”

“She is infatuated with Dev,” Antao goes on. “I don’t know if they were having a sexual relationship but if I came face to face with him I would have things to say… Now everywhere I go I see them on billboards. I am devastated.”

Antao also adds that Pinto was instructed to keep her relationship with him a secret during interviews and promotional tours, otherwise it would “affect the whole emphasis of the film, the love story.”

“I wish her success in her career,” Antao concludes. “But I can’t watch the Oscars, and I don’t want to watch the film. It wrecked our love.”

Slumdog Wins Best Picture

Our favorite film of the year, Slumdog Millionaire, took home eight Academy Awards last night, including the award for Best Picture!

Congrats everyone!!!!

Slumdog also scooped up the award for Best Original Song for “Jai Ho”!

That’s the amazing jam that soundtracked the movie’s final dance scene in the train station.

Perhaps most exciting, however, is a quote that came from fellow castmate Anil Kapoor about our favorite couple-to-be, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto.

Said Kapoor:

“There is a potential and I think they look great together!”

Sweet! Now make it happen, Freidev!!

Freida Pinto: The Pinup

Slumdog Millionaire‘s Freida Pinto is a pinup in the latest issue of Vanity Fair!

In the interview, the bombshell talks Bombay, being Latika, and what it was like to work with director Danny Boyle.

“Danny said that when he first saw me on tape he pretty much knew he was going to cast me,” says Pinto.

Couple Watch: Slumdog’s Dev Patel and Freida Pinto

Witness, if you can, the unflagging chemistry between Slumdog Millionaire co-stars Dev Patel, 18, and Freida Pinto, 24, at the SAG Awards tonight.

They’re the Leo and Kate of India!!!

After the pair won highest honors for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture, they grasped onto each other, smiled longingly, and wouldn’t let go.

It was like the scene in the train station!!! Minus the random dance-off.

According to sources, Pinto is newly single, after breaking off her long-term engagement to a Bangladore businessman to “focus on her career.” Indeed, tonight at the SAGs, she bore no such ring. 

And, it seems Patel can’t stop talking about his ex-model co-star during interviews!

Says Patel, “I haven’t got a girlfriend but Freida, my co-star, is gorgeous.” Patel also calls Pinto his “soulmate” for helping him adjust to his new-found fame.
