John Lennon Exhibit Opens in NYC

May 12, 2009

It’s a great day to be a New Yorker.

Especially when the latest exhibit to debut at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC is titled John Lennon: The New York City Years.

The former Beatle‘s wife, Yoko Ono, along with rock writer Jim Henke, unveiled the exhibit Monday, which displays everything from Lennon’s letters of anti-war activism to items he considered relevant to his love for New York, to a billboard which displays Lennon’s blood-stained glasses from his death.

“John was in love with this city, head over heels,” Yoko Ono said during the unveiling.

“[And] it’s very important now for people to understand what violence is about.”

The New York City Years will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11A to 10P, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
