The Jonas Brothers stormed Sunrise, Florida’s BankAtlantic Center Wednesday night, rocking a ton of their hits and even some cover songs. (The Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feeling” and Neil Diamond‘s “Sweet Caroline” were just a few.)
The boys also played fan favorites “Burnin Up,” “Much Better,” “I Gotta Find You,” and a version of “Lovebug” that featured simulated rain!!!
There’s no better gig for an up-and-coming pop band than opening for the Jonas Brothers on their world tour. And now that New Jersey-based Honor Society have done that, they’re ready to headline!!
Last night was Honor Society’s first sold-out show on their Full Crazy Moon Tour (which alternates with JB’s World Tour) at New York’s Gramercy Theatre. Sold out – and they have yet to release their first record!!
HS played nearly an hour of jams, including hit single “See You in the Dark,” croony “Where Are You Now” and infectious “Here Comes Trouble.”
They’re kind of like New Kids on the Block with guitars!!
“They’re more accessible than the Jonas Brothers,” a twenty-something in the front row tells Poison Ivy, as a reason why she started liking them more than JB. (Mind you, the said twenty-year-old drove from Virginia to see them after also catching their July 13 show in D.C.)
If you haven’t already, visit Honor Society’s MySpace here, and click above to check out a snippet of their poptastic jam “Nobody Has to Know.”
We bet you were still snoozing when we got up, oh around five, to see the Jonas Brothers perform on the Today Show, and capture this fantastic video!!!
Although, we can’t brag too hard. Most fans we talked to showed up around two or three this morning. And an NBC exec informed usthat some fans started lining up on Wednesday!!
48 hours in the rain??
Now that’s devotion!!!
The boys played five rockin’ jams for the die-hard crowd: “Burnin’ Up,” “Paranoid,” “Lovebug,” “Much Better,” and “World War III,” but here’s a nice chunk of our second-favorite Jo Bros song, “Burnin’ Up.” (First fave, obviously being Poison Ivy.)
Is it us or is Joe Jonas staring directly at the camera???
“Thanks,” Joe says. You can tell he gets this comment ten times a day.
“I’ve been here since the morning,” the girl later tells me. It’s now close to 11 p.m. But she’s not alone. 50 or so girls are standing behind her, rehearsing what they’ll say when Kevin comes over. Or what they should have said to Nick. Or how early they’ll be getting up on Friday for the bros Good Morning America appearance.
It’s Jonasmania.
And the boys?
Completely cool.
They take a minute to say hi to fans, snap a photo with Poison Ivy, and then head upstairs to their rooms to zonk out for the night.
“Nope,” says Nick, when I ask if he’s heard ofraging NYC entertainment blog Poison Ivy.
“They are men. They have desires. They have testosterone. If they make a mistake, I’m not going to hate them. I don’t think they are above or below being seduced. I would be foolish if I thought that. I pray for them.”
Eminem isn’t the only one releasing cover art today!!!
The Jonas Brothers have released their cover art for Lines, Vines and Trying Times, due out June 15.
“The title is a bit of poetry we came up with on the set for the TV show,” Nick explained. “Lines are something that someone feeds you, whether it’s good or bad. Vines are the things that get in the way of the path that you’re on, and trying times, well, obviously we’re younger guys, but we’re aware of what’s going on in the world and we’re trying to bring some light to it.”
