Quote of the Day

June 13, 2009

“I thought I was attractive when I shot My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Studio executives and movie reviewers let me know I had a confidence in my looks that was not shared by them. In other words, they labeled me with words like: overweight, unattractive, unappealing. Hey, just say fat. I love the word fat. I used it in the title. It’s actually not a naughty word. We give it a power it actually doesn’t have. So, you’re fat. Big deal.”

Nia Vardalos Talks My Life in Ruins

It’s a great day to be a New Yorker!!!!

Actress Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), along with director Donald Petrie (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), hit the Apple Store SoHo Friday to chat with fans about their latest flick, My Life in Ruins.

The romantic comedy features Vardalos as a disgruntled bus tour guide in Greece who gets her groove back after traveling with a busload of tourists led by powerhouse Richard Dreyfuss.

“It was a dream come true to shoot in Greece,” Vardalos says, of filming. “It was surreal on the set, to stand by the Acropolis, close my eyes before they say ‘Action’ and feel the wind blowing through the columns. It doesn’t get any better.”

My Life was the last movie to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival Saturday night, but is first on our list of must-sees!!
