MGMT to Sue President of France

March 2, 2009

Indie band MGMT is suing French President Nicolas Sarkozy for using their song “Kids” in a promotional campaign without permission or compensation.

Fair enough, right?
The plot thickens.
The French government actually admitted to using the track, and in rebuttal, had the nerve to offer the band 89 cents as a symbolic gesture!!!!
Idiote!!
MGMT’s lawyer responded:
“This offer is disrespectful of the rights of artists and authors. We are dealing with acts of counterfeiting, an infringement of intellectual property.”
Go get ’em boys!
