Katy Covers Queen at New York Show
April 8, 2009
“Queen taught me everything I know,” said a rambunctious Katy Perry, before diving into a cover of the rock legends’ “Don’t Stop Me Now” at New York’s Irving Plaza Tuesday night.
The pop starlet, 24, was on night two of her three-night Irving residency and plowed through almost two hours of hits, including “Hot ‘N Cold,” “Ur So Gay,” “I Kissed A Girl” and a pretty rocking cover of The Outfield’s “Use Your Love,” which she promptly smashed her guitar after playing.
“Did we ruin it?” she nervously asked a stagehand.
“Fuck, we ruined it. Let’s give it to someone, I’ll never play that again.”
Check out a video of our favorite performance of the night, the energetic Queen staple “Don’t Stop Me Now,” above.
