John Mayer Strips Down, Talks Jennifer Aniston in Latest Rolling Stone

January 20, 2010

John Mayer strips down on the latest cover of Rolling Stone, also opening up about his two-year off-and-on relationship with actress Jennifer Aniston.

“I’ve never really gotten over it,” the singer says. “It was one of the worst times of my life. What would I be saying to Jen, who I think is f—ing fantastic, if I said to her, I don’t dislike you. In fact, I like you extremely well. But I have to back out of this because it doesn’t arc over the horizon. This is not where I see myself for the rest of my life, this is not my ideal destiny.”

Mayer also adds that he is looking for “the right person,” but he doesn’t put it so eloquently.

“Do you think it’s going to take meeting someone who I admire more than I admire myself?” Mayer ponders.

“But isn’t it also about a beautiful vagina? Aren’t we talking about a matrix of a couple of different things here? Like, you need to have them be able to go toe-to-toe with you intellectually. But don’t they also have to have a vagina you could pitch a tent on and just camp out on for, like, a weekend? Doesn’t that have to be there, too? The Joshua Tree of vaginas? …I’ll be happy when I close out this life-partner thing. Think of how much mental capacity I’m using to meet the right person so I can stop giving a f–k about it.”

Les Paul’s Last Rolling Stone Interview

August 16, 2009

Guitar legend Les Paul passed away Thursday at the age of 94 from complications of pneumonia.

In his honor, Rolling Stone has published audio excerpts from his last interview with the magazine, nine months ago.

“I think it’s therapy,” Paul says in the clip. “I think that it’s the love of the instrument and the fact that rather than to grow old watching TV, or just layin’ around the house trying to get from the bedroom to the bathroom, that it’s better to be amongst your friends, make new friends, and to play with a younger generation of people.”

Hanging with Gossip Girl’s Matthew Settle

March 30, 2009

Poison Ivy ran into Gossip Girl‘s Matthew Settle at New York’s Faces & Names Saturday night, where the new dad gushed about his daughter, spoke candidly about partying in the 80s with director Oliver Stone, and told us what he really thinks about that Gossip Girl Rolling Stone cover.

“Did you see the girls doing that fellatio thing with the ice cream [on the RS cover]?” Settle asked me. “The girls can pose like that, but the guys have to be so careful with every word they say on set.”
The actor also spoke out about wild nights at New York’s Buddha Bar in the 80s, when mastermind Oliver Stone crafted a series of “lipstick lesbian parties,” drawing supermodels from around the world.
“There were no guys allowed,” Settle said. “It was just Oliver Stone, me, and models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.”
But the new dad made it clear that those days were in the past. His newborn daughter, Aven Angelica Settle, born March 5, and wife, Israeli actress Naama Nativ, seemed to be his biggest priorities now.
“I’m a new dad!” Settle told me, before we could even find a place to speak.
Also climbing Settle’s priority list?
