On Wednesday night, we were honored to attend Rotary International and the New York Philharmonic’s Concert to End Polio, featuring one of our favorite violinists Itzhak Perlman.
It’s not exactly the genre we’re used to covering, but we are used to stepping outside the box and love trying new things!
Joined by conductor Daniel Boico and the New York Philharmonic orchestra, Perlman gave several amazing performances at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall Wednesday: “Tambourin Chinois” by Kreisler, Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor (Op. 26),” and John Williams‘ “Theme From Schindler’s List,” to name a few.
We also stuck around for a special post-concert ceremony, in which we got to meet Perlman and watch him be honored with a Rotary International award for his support of the End Polio campaign.
“There is no reason that anybody in this world should have [Polio],” Perlman told the audience. “It’s just ridiculous.”
“It’s very nice of you to give me this momento,” the polio survivor added, “But I think that the awards and the recognition should go to the Rotary Club because to say what you’re doing is great work is truly an understatement.”
