Beatlemania Exhibition Opens in Hamburg

A Beatlemania exhibition, featuring everything from a young Beatles‘ fan bedroom (above) to a Yellow Submarine ride to a replica of the Abbey Road studios opened its doors yesterday in Hamburg, Germany!

Hamburg is one of the first cities where the Beatles achieved fame, as well as where they penned their first record contract and played their first show.

So it’s only fitting!!!

Can’t wait to check it out!

John Lennon Exhibit Opens in NYC

It’s a great day to be a New Yorker.

Especially when the latest exhibit to debut at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC is titled John Lennon: The New York City Years.

The former Beatle‘s wife, Yoko Ono, along with rock writer Jim Henke, unveiled the exhibit Monday, which displays everything from Lennon’s letters of anti-war activism to items he considered relevant to his love for New York, to a billboard which displays Lennon’s blood-stained glasses from his death.

“John was in love with this city, head over heels,” Yoko Ono said during the unveiling.

“[And] it’s very important now for people to understand what violence is about.”

The New York City Years will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11A to 10P, and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Paul McCartney, Leonard Cohen and Ting Tings Kick Off Coachella

Paul McCartney, Leonard Cohen and Katie White of the Ting Tings kick off day one of the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA.

Not a bad day!!!

McCartney played a nearly three hour set, including Beatles hits like “Drive My Car,” “Hey Jude,” “Back in the U.S.S.R.,” and “Let It Be.”

“We’ve come from many miles away to rock your roof tonight,” McCartney said. “It’s gonna be a good weekend here.”

Paul and Ringo Come Together

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr came together in the name of charity Saturday, for a performance at David Lynch’s “Change Begins Within” at Radio City Music Hall.

The former Beatles played three songs together, including Beatles staple “I Saw Her Standing There,” while Jerry Seinfeld, Sheryl Crow, Eddie Vedder, Donovan, Ben Harper and Moby rocked other performances.

This was the first time McCartney and Starr shared a stage since 2002’s “A Concert for George,” the tribute show to deceased Beatles guitarist George Harrison.

George Harrison Gets Hollywood Star

Beatles guitarist George Harrison, who died at age 58 in 2001, will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame April 14.

Harrison is included in the The Beatles Hollywood star, but will now be second in the group (after John Lennon) to have his own.

Wife Olivia Harrison and son Dhani will attend the ceremony.

First, we showed you rare, never-before-seen images of the band. Then, we reported that you can now get a degree in the band’s history!!
The latest news in the Beatles franchise is their very own Rock Band video game!
The Beatles: Rock Band will hit stores September 9, and “take players on a journey through the legacy and evolution of the band’s legendary career,” the press release promises.

Earn a Master of Arts in The Beatles

Liverpool Hope University in England is now offering a Master of Arts in “The Beatles, Popular Music and Society.”
Best degree ever!!!!
“Forty years on from their break-up, now is the right time and Liverpool is the right place to study The Beatles,” said senior director of popular music Mike Brocken.
We completely agree!
The courses consist of four 12-week modules and a dissertation. The university also states that this is the first postgraduate course on The Beatles in the UK, and possibly the world.

Rare Beatles, Stones Images Found

Over 50 rare photos of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones have been discovered by former tour manager Bob Bonis, including this one of a backstage haircut from Keith Richards to Charlie Watts.

The intimate shots, which include the two bands hanging out together, were discovered in Bonis’ old duffel bag after 45 years!!!
Bonis will be putting the photos on display at an exhibit titled “The British Are Coming: The Beatles and The Rolling Stones 1964 – 66.” at New York’s Not Fade Away Gallery.
“In more than 20 years as a rock archaeologist I’ve never come upon a discovery of this magnitude,” the Gallery’s director said.

Prince Covers Beatles at Oscar Bash

It was around two in the morning Monday when Prince treated guests at his annual post-Oscar bash to a two hour concert, chock full of covers like The Beatles “Come Together” and the Rolling Stones‘ “Honky Tonk Woman.”

“I’m here and you’re here, that’s all we need to start a party, right?” Prince asked, before diving into a shockingly awesome version of Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle.”
The party’s guest list included everyone from the Oscar-nominated Taraji Henson to Alicia Keys, to any Prince fan who braved the admission line with $100 in their wallet.
