U2 Helps Island Records Celebrate the Big 50

May 30, 2009

Island Records recruited Baaba Maal and U2 for a surprise performance at their 50th Anniversary party in London Thursday!

Not bad!!

The duo performed a cover of Bob Marley’s “One Love,” as well as U2’s “One,” before Cat Stevens hit the stage for a set of his own.

U2 signed with Island Records in 1980 after being notoriously turned down by other labels. Singer Bono often speaks out about his gratitude that Island took them on.

Best investment ever!!!!
